Avant-garde.
personally
1. To express unusual ideas through the art of film, and have no restrictions to what those ideas might be.
Avant-Garde is the beauty of not having to do anything normal or conceptual/sensible. Their is no limits in Avant-garde it is freedom of expression, the embrace of unusual, and a genre of film.
The first Avant-garde film I had ever seen was in my Film class which showed me a whole side of film-making I had never knew existed. I was so sure that film was all about story and telling/explanation. But some films can be labeled meaningless in terms of "story" and still be respected, valued, and can be a film. Honestly, I'm enlightened and I don't quit know what I'm going to run with in this genre. But I can't wait to figure it out...
